This site is always under construction
We will add more links as soon as we can!
This web site is dedicated to the proposition that there is good, reliable
information on the Internet. You will find here a collection of links to informative and educational web sites under a wide variety of subjects, as listed in the Subject Index. The emphasis is upon Canadian material, though there is considerable international content.
Should this site be unavailable for any reason, try accessing our Mirror Site (http://get.to/plink2) set up courtesy of FortuneCity which provides free web site hosting. The mirror site is the same as the main site.
Navigation:
Several methods of navigating this site have been provided. The home page offers alphabetic access by subject, as well as the "Frames" button which sets up a scrolling subject side bar. The "Subjects" button provides a condensed page of subject links. For browsing ease, each page features links at the top for moving from page to page, and links at the bottom for choosing an alphabetic subject area.
Searching can be done by using the BeSeen Search Host on the home page, or the Java search available from the subject page or side bar.

Content and Design:
A recent study in the scientific periodical Nature
entitled Accessibility and Distribution of Information on the Web demonstrates that even the best search engines cover only a fraction of the web sites in existence. Portalink attempts to locate specialized directories in many subject areas. Such directories concentrate upon a single subject and so can often provide a better set of sites to explore than a search engine can. They are also often set up by someone knowledgeable in the subject, who is able to filter out inaccurate or questionable material.
This site has been designed so that it can be easily printed out, and for this reason avoids the use of frames and includes actual web addresses as well as hyperlinks. A frames version which uses a "subject index" sidebar for navigation can be reached by clicking: frames.
Each page on this site has a "last updated" date at the bottom, but the date at the bottom of the front page indicates the last update for the entire web site. These dates are generated using a JavaScript routine that looks at the internal last revision date of each html page, hence these dates are updated automatically whenever a change is made to a page.

"Come To" is a free redirected URL service:
Usually when you run a site your URL will look like http://www.mycompany.com. If you are a home-user or own a small company this may be too expensive so your current URL most likely looks like: http://www.provider.com/~company. Needless to say, such a URL is difficult to remember and doesn't look nice.
"Come.to" can offer you a Redirect URL that will be easy to remember and does look cool! You keep your current service provider and current URL, which will be the Target-URL.
If you run a site like: http://www.provider.com/~boris they could give you: http://come.to/boris. Of course you can think of anything to put behind "/", even multiple words. You can choose any word you like or which best describes your site.
